The male is also the nurturer, building the nest, hatching the eggs and raising the young; the female leaves after laying. These birds are gardeners of the forest, spreading the seeds far and wide with their roaming. They live deep in the forest and disappear rather than confront humans. This is the picture of the native; three-dimensional and complex, strong and nurturing, of both family and earth, many things at the same time.
