January One Card Draw!

The January One Card Draw is now OPENCLOSED! As usual, this draw will be open for 24 hours so that all time zones and schedules will be able to take advantage of it; I'll stop reading in the early evening and pick up again in the morning, finishing anyone who requested overnight. :)

Comment and I will pull a card for you from my original, unique bird oracle deck. Anyone and everyone is welcome! The more detail you give in your request, the better I can interpret the card's meaning for you, which is my role as intermediary, however, even just a general request will get my best effort; it's up to you. For privacy, you may post anonymously; sponsors may choose to get their reading via private message.

If you are facing a choice, the cards may help point in the most positive direction for you. You may request an overall card to meditate upon. You might want a card to let you know what new thing may come into your life in the near future, or what is the most important thing facing you at this time. You may ask a specific question and we will see if the universal subconscious can answer it for you. However you use this opportunity, I hope it will be helpful!

i'd like to know whether the current bout of medical testing is going to find anything unpleasant - i'm waiting on blood tests for diabetes and high cholesterol, and there's still some argument about my blood pressure.

Hrm. Mockingbird. These birds can learn a person in two thirty second encounters. They understand subtleties of speech/sound/song and the magic of synthesizing disparate things to produce a unique whole. These birds are effortlessly brave and understand that actions speak louder than words.
You may be tested by a blinding distraction. If you stay calm and remember to use all your senses, you will do well. This is the mockingbird's lesson.

So that would suggest that possibly you will get some bad news, but that, if you stay calm and focus on what's really important, you'll be okay.

For you, on the topic of mental health generally, I drew the Bat. The unexpected, the one who turns everything on its head, the bad encourages making peace with one's dark side, finding the good in it. The bat also generally speaks of the warm and the dark.

I'm finding it almost impossible right now to be disciplined & motivated enough to do the things I need to do (homework, eating properly, etc).Basically, I need to get my groove back, & there are many things I could do, but I dunno what I should work on first.

Hrm. For you, I drew Bluebird. This bird is more about the surface than the depth, about possibility rather than reality, too gentle and non-aggressive for passion or drama, too much a creature of the present to be complex.

I think Bluebird is advocating a bit of "fake it till you make it"; start with the easy, surface things and do them as much as you can and work your way down to the deeper issues slowly.

I drew the Ostrich. Huge, beautiful eyes spot predators far away and long, lithe legs enable them to run away at high speed. This equates to the flirtatious woman who is cleverer than she seems at first; the innocent who is perfectly capable of caring for herself after all.
Without flight, this is one of the more grounded birds, linked to truth and balance, as its feathers are perfectly balanced on each side. And, of course, the huge ostrich egg is a well known symbol of creation and fertility.
This bird teaches us to thoroughly digest what we are contemplating before we act, to be patient, keep our head down, and blend in with the landscape while we think. Finally, if running, leaving or staying low isn't an option, a good swift kick is advised.

I asked for comfort and support for you and I drew Swallow. In many ways, this is a deeply human bird, with mating and social structures similar to ours and a long, long history of living in human structures. Stepping back a pace, getting some perspective and objectivity, this is the message of this "thinking" (in the Myers-Briggs sense) bird. The swallow is a popular sign of spring/summer all around the world, although it carries the message that one swallow does not make a summer and one should wait for more certain proof, which leads back to perspective and objectivity. Swallows rarely fly far from land, so sailors have long used it as a sign that home was close. Most of the myths about this bird have logic on their side, and you should keep logic on your side.

Hi there. Donation made -- here's my quandary: My own cards have told me flat out that something must pass away before progress can be made. They won't give me any clue whatsoever about WHAT must be released though, and that's got me more than confused. I could really use some insight on what it is I'm meant to be letting go of here, if at all possible, because from where I stand, nothing looks particularly optional just now.

I feel for you! Let me see what my cards have to say...I get Bird of Paradise. This is the bestower of kingship/nobility, the one who chooses and is not chosen; this bird is elusive and must come to you rather than you come to it. This bird also represents the haughty, vain male, looking down on others from his great height. Finally, this bird reminds us that no bird is so heavenly that it does not still have feet.

Ahhh. I think the problem is that you can't do the releasing; this is something out of your control. Perhaps the vain male reference is a clue, but I think the real core of the issue is as I stated; what needs to pass will only pass in its own due time and you have simply to wait.

Sorry it's not a relieving answer!

I'm in a tenuous place in life right now with a lot of uncertainty, discomfort, and questions. I have serious issues of my own to work through regarding trust and communication.

On top of that I'm the support structure for someone who is an ocean away. This is someone whom I consider to be family-of-choice, a sibling at the very least, possibly becoming an additional life-partner along side my husband and I. His/Her life has been torn apart and zie does not see any way forward. I do, but its going to take courage on all our parts to struggle through to making this family into a reality. Safely supporting zir serious medical issues as well as finding a way to bring him/her across the ocean on a permanent basis are things being considered but how that will be achieved is still to be determined. While I don't always have the fortitude necessary, at the moment I'm doing my best to have enough courage for us all because zie doesn't have any left of his/her own.

So my question is; am I charting the right course for me and mine? And if this is the right path for us all, what can I do to bring it to fruition? And how long is it likely to be before we can reap the rewards of our current struggles?

I LOVE your icon. Okay, so...that's a big question for one card, but I'll do what I can!

I drew the Bewick's Swan. This is the bird of the monk. This card speaks of dignity, wisdom, buoyancy/staying afloat, support/friends, the respected dead/funerals, sensitivity and empathy in somber times, elegant style and poetry.

I think, indeed, you are charting the right course. I think it may be a long time before you can reap the rewards; I expect when it does happen, it will be in winter, but not this one. As to how to bring it about, I'm not sure there is much direction on that front given with this card, but maybe you will see something helpful in it.
