Interesting! I'd love one, just to hear what your oracle deck has to say to me :) I tend to get messages regarding the need to grab at opportunities, but not aggressively, so I'd like to see if yours says something similar.

Welcome! Your card is the Flamingo. The first part of the description to jump out at me was that they are a mellow bird that takes life as it comes; it is similar to your other messages!
Flamingos are not terribly bright, love being social, and spend most of their time eating. They avoid predators by choosing an unfriendly habitat and eat an easily-had diet of algae (and the tiny animals also eating the algae).
The message of this card is to do your own thing, but in a leaderless, mellow sort of way. Avoid conflict by simply not putting yourself in a position to encounter it. Enjoy the company of like-minded people, but not in an exclusionary way. These birds are water birds, and all about going with the flow without losing themselves in the process. :)

Hrm, interesting. You got Nuthatch. This bird is a tool-user, wedging large items into a "clamp" of tree bark and then pounding them with their strong beaks. One species even uses pieces of bark as a lever to lift other bark looking for insects. They also cache food for later and pick up the languages of other often-encountered birds.
When time is short, one must get to the point, something this short-lived bird knows well. No fuss, no muss, just efficient use of one's skills in a world that is often more brutal than we might wish.

I'm not sure how to take that, so I hope the answer is clear for you!

The birds agree; you don't have any questions that need answering right now! I drew Lapwing, which is the cards being all smartypantsy; Lapwing is, among other things, about wondering, rushing ahead, answers (You asked a Question, so here is an Answer), and false hope or injury. Naughty cards! But they did include a real message for you; the Lapwing is the bird of spring, specifically of Ostara (Easter), so I suspect that come next spring, you will have a very big question on your mind. I hope I can answer it for you then!

I drew Partridge for you; this bird represents the small, invisible one who turns out to be a bit meaner and tougher than expected. I think that's going to be you; you will have to be a bit meaner and tougher than people might expect of you. You must also be careful about taking big risks; you will tend to be an unlucky gambler, and should also avoid heights.
This bird is also a symbol of fecundity, easy, frequent, or large pregnancies; I don't think you should take that literally! In this case, it sounds like you are fertile with things that have not yet reached their fullness. Give it time, and be stubborn, but smart.

I drew for you Pigeon/Dove...they are actually the same kind of bird; smaller, lighter varieties are typically labeled as doves while larger, darker varieties are pigeons. While pigeons get a bad reputation as nuisance birds, dove are a symbol of peace; this duality reflects our tendency to cast humanity as either fundamentally good or fundamentally bad, when the reality is far more complex. These birds are among the strongest, most highly maneuverable of all birds, as well as among the most adaptable, living pretty much everywhere on earth aside from the poles and the Sahara. The pigeon/dove is one of the most ancient of birds, appearing far back in the fossil record. Perhaps the most powerful word associated with this bird is HOME, in as many ways as the word can be thought of and interpreted.

Woodpecker makes a second appearance, the first bird to do so! I think it's very appropriate to your question, as well. Woodpecker is the drummer, linked to thunder and the heartbeat. He is also the woodcarver, deeply linked to trees and wood.
Do what seems obvious to you even it doesn't to others; trust your core instinct. Whatever works!
Don't forget to laugh.
There is a deep sense of dryness about this bird.
Woodpecker also highlights the importance of an eye for detail, and searching every nook and cranny.

Educate yourself thoroughly and go with what speaks to the core of you, to your heart and soul.

I'm beginning on some new projects at the lab after an absence of a month. I need to gather my willpower to meet all my obligations at this time, but am plagued with anxiety.

I drew Eagle; this bird is the stereotypical paladin or knight; service, devotion, usefulness, nobility, purity, maturity, ancient, craggy, keeping yourself to yourself, neither a leader nor a follower...ah, I think here's the helpful part: try to create some detachment from earthly things, take a step back emotionally. Remember that life is short and the universe is long.

You may appreciate this as much as I did, which was not at all, when my mother said it to me time and again, but...ask yourself if it will really matter in a hundred years; it probably isn't THAT important in the end.

I think I'm looking for direction of sorts. Things have been difficult for a while, especially the past year. There have been financial problems and two deaths in the family in the past five months. I've been kind of floundering spiritually, creatively and just in general I guess.

The cards think you need a serious injection of laughter and social interaction in your life. The first card I drew was the Lorikeet, the class clown, agile, quick, comic, distractable and distracting; the drive to get out and be an active part of the world. The second card was Chickadee, which speaks of cheerfulness and charm, of being good at social interaction, clear communication, unity in diversity and pleasant company.

You've HAVE had a rough time, and you need to heal, to find light and laughter again.

Hrm. A challenging card to interpret in the context of your question! I drew for your Oriole, which speaks of the child/inner child, joy, lightheartedness, and quick learning, in the way of a child. The Oriole is also associated with the sunflower.

So. Hrm. Perhaps your inner child knows best how to redress the Social Fail situation...and perhaps offering a person or two a sunflower mightn't go amiss!

Hi there! I found this from birgitriddle's post and I thought I might as well request a card. I just graduated from college without a job and very unsure of what direction to go in searching for one or what to do with my life in general. I could use a card helping me figure out a good direction for me to go in.

I drew for you Duck, a warm, friendly card. Duck deals with food, sustenance, health, energy, and is a friend of the meek. Duck knows that little things are important and advises you to be gentle with yourself and with others, especially since there is often a storm coming.
My first suggestions would be to maybe look at the food industry (everything from chef to server to farmer is in there) or possibly nursing, maybe with an eye towards hospice work eventually.

Basically, I am trying to decide if I can provide for myself financially with a healing business, or if this is foolish and I should focus on a more mundane aspect (financial advice). Do I need to heal in my free time for a while?

I also had a strong totemic experience last night with a snake, who has never hurt me before, but caused me a great deal of stinging pain that reminded me of tattoo needles or neuralgia, around my right arm. What's this then?

I've really struggled with this first question; I've actually drawn several cards but none have felt right. Finally, I just stuck with the actual question you asked: Do you need to heal in your free time for a while? And I got Robin, who pretty unequivocally suggests volunteer work is the way to go, specifically with the dying, deeply suffering, and desperate.

Less trouble with your second question; I got Bird of Paradise, bestower of nobility, the one who chooses and is not chosen. Clearly, this card is saying that this event is a signal that snake has chosen you, and perhaps also was reminding you that you are not the boss in that relationship!

The cards offered up Sparrow. I think, if you do move away, you will have to have roommates. Whether you stay or go, remember that everyone has something to contribute to the larger group; take the self esteem of your own contribution and credit the contribution of others. Remember that your home may not be perfect, wither it is with your family or with roommates, but that it will be happy if it is full of love.

I drew Crane. Crane is associated with both physical transport, both items and passengers, and the emotional transport of dance. They are also associated with alphabets and arcane knowledge. They represent longevity, vigilance, fidelity and focus. Something lost or stolen may be recovered. Generally, they are a symbol of good luck.

Two things on my mind: a) is the anxiety I'm dealing with going to go away, or do I have to accept it as part of me on a permanent basis? and b) is an MA followed by a PhD a good choice for me in the long run? I know it'll make me happy in the short run, but... So a card for each?

Chickadee suggests your anxiety is temporary. Perhaps you need some training in the complexities and subtleties of social interaction; if you get it, I suspect you will be quite successful with it.

The answer to the second is hard to understand; I drew Lark (Skylark), which reminds us that even in the coldest times, there is still freshness, the soil of the earth in which good things grow. The lark speaks of the dance of earth and sun, of spirals, of sacred voice, sacred song, the importance of listening, the warming of the body and soul, seeking and loving the sun/light; it's the bird of winter.

This is another case where I think you will have to do the interpreting of the message for yourself; you know something I don't that will provide clarity here, I think and hope!

For you, Roadrunner; this bird is first and foremost about speed, everything from multitasking to snappy comebacks to mental agility. Roadrunners are also tough, quick enough to take on a rattlesnake.
While independence is good and natural for this bird, it can backfire, so don't be afraid to accept a little help if you need it.
